HIK Food guidelines and regulations
1. Due to having to strictly follow the food regulations of the local authorities, and having a diverse food allergy list, we only feed the children the food on the menu that is made public to parents. This menu is also registered with the authorities for their supervision purposes.
2. Unless your child has special dietary requirements that cannot be provided by HIK additional/alternative menu, we will not accept any food sent to school from home. If you need further explanation, please come and chat with us about it.
3. Children of Nursery and Pre-Discovery classes can have their milk sent to school if their parents wish.
4. Every year HIK makes exceptions for the following events where we accept food being sent to the school:
- Birthdays
- Cultural weeks
- The HIK Christmas and end-of-year parties
5. Guidelines for birthdays:
The school only allows one child-friendly, nut-free cake, and/or fresh fruit/juice to be sent in – no sweets or any additional food or drinks should be sent to the school.
- The school discourages parents from preparing birthday goodie bags to send home with other children. Anything you insist on sending home with other children will be checked carefully by our teachers for child-unfriendly items (we have had some problems in the past where goodie bags sent home contained inappropriate items and several parents expressed their wish for the school to keep control of the matter more closely).
Please also keep in mind that for children under 3 years old, some families are very strict about sweets and sugary food.
